PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA – Tip Top Milk, a leading dairy logistics company in South Africa, has taken delivery of 21 new Mercedes-Benz Actros 2645 Pure trucks, marking a significant milestone in its journey of growth, innovation, and partnership. This latest acquisition brings the total number of Mercedes-Benz Trucks purchased to 155, reinforcing their commitment to reliable milk transportation across the country.
Founded in 2010 by the late Beyers de Bruin, Tip Top Milk began with a lot of faith, a single Dyna 3500 milk tanker and a vision to support farmers struggling with milk oversupply. Today, they operate from three depots nationwide, employ approximately 200 people, and source, collect and transports over 36 million litres of top-quality milk every month.
Despite its rapid expansion, Tip Top Milk remains deeply rooted in its values: faith, pride, passion, leadership, courage, integrity and people. “Our business is built around people, our customers and our employees,” says David de Jager, Chief Executive Officer at Tip Top Milk. “We pride ourselves on doing what is right and being honest in everything we do.”
The company’s longstanding relationship with Mercedes-Benz Trucks began when Beyers sought a partner that believed in his vision. “In 2010, Mercedes-Benz Trucks was the only truck brand willing to take a chance on us,” David recalls. “That’s where Beyers’ love for the brand started.”
Over the years, Tip Top Milk has worked closely with Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Motus Daimler Trucks Airport. “Ruan Pienaar and the team have been exceptional. Their support is unwavering, and they never make excuses. It’s a pleasure doing business with them,” David adds.
Reliability is key in the transport industry, and Tip Top Milk has experienced firsthand the durability of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, especially when it comes to critical components like engines and gearboxes.
“We have a truck in our fleet with over a million kilometres on the clock.” David continues: “But no matter how reliable a truck is, repairs will eventually be needed. That’s where Mercedes-Benz Trucks truly stand out - the availability of parts makes all the difference and keeps our business moving.”
Uptime is critical, and the extensive dealer network of Mercedes-Benz Trucks ensures peace of mind to Tip Top Milk, “there are at least two dealerships along one of our major routes, which means support is readily available. In addition, the dedication of the people behind the brand is truly amazing,” says David, sharing a recent experience where a replacement truck was delivered within days after an accident. “We contacted Motus Daimler Trucks Airport on a Saturday afternoon with an urgent need to replace one of our trucks. By Tuesday, the new truck was delivered. That level of responsiveness and support is a testament to Mercedes-Benz Truck’s commitment.”
Tip Top Milk also leverages Fleetboard technology, one of their favourite features of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, to optimize fuel efficiency and driver performance. Their driver bonus structure is built around Fleetboard data, and the results speak volumes. Thanks to driver training and the information provided by Fleetboard the average driver scores have improved from 8.9 in 2014 to 9.4 in 2025, significantly reducing downtime, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs.
David concludes: “Mercedes-Benz Trucks are not only the most aesthetically pleasing trucks on the road—they offer a host of features and benefits that support our operations. But for us, the most important factor is our people. Our drivers spend countless hours behind the wheel every day, and their comfort directly affects their performance and well-being. That’s why we choose Mercedes-Benz Trucks: they deliver unmatched comfort, helping us take care of the people who keep our business moving.”
In response, Olaf Petersen, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Daimler Truck Southern Africa, shared: “Tip Top Milk is a trusted company that keeps Africa moving. Fifteen years ago, we saw their vision and potential, and today we’re proud to be one of the leading brands behind their business. We sincerely thank David and the entire Tip Top Milk team for their loyalty over the years. Their continued trust inspires us more than ever, to support their business as it grows from strength to strength.”
As Tip Top Milk celebrates 15 years of excellence, the addition of 21 new Mercedes-Benz Trucks is more than just a fleet expansion—it’s a reaffirmation of a partnership built on trust, performance, and shared values.
