Performance Based Standards (PBS)
Timber Transport
Arocs have an especially robust chassis built for demanding PBS on-off road timber transport applications, at up to 73500kg GCM (in mountain country, which is where the trees grow). The massive torque of the 15.6 litre OM473 engine available from 800rpm combined with a twin plate clutch, mean that starting massive loads on steep inclines is a non-event.
Side Tipper
Two Actros models are available for PBS side tipping applications depending on whether the application is short or long haul. Both models feature oversized built for purpose G330 transmissions to cope with the additional weight encountered in PBS applications. The robust suspensions offer exceptional stability for high centre of gravity loads common in PBS applications.
Waste Management
Compactor
Arocs models designed for compactor applications have especially robust, 13 ton hub reduction drive axles offering excellent ground clearance to meet the demanding conditions found on landfill sites. Mercedes-Benz PowerShift 3 transmissions also make easy work of strenuous stop-go driving.
Skip Loader
Fitted as standard with the Mercedes-Benz exclusive PSM module, integration of body specific requirements such as a gear selection lock-out on the Arocs is made easy. Shorter body mounting turnaround times are facilitated by the body specific body mounting brackets and 50mm chassis hole spacing.
Hook Lift
The Arocs 6x4 and twin steer 8x4 chassis cabs with their straight front axles offer outstanding ground clearance for improved mobility of hook lift trucks working on waste disposal sites. The parabolic rear springs offer excellent axle articulation for traction, while providing stability by means of a heavy duty stabilizer to limit the rolling which is characteristic of hook-lift trucks with their high center of gravity.
Utility Services
Aerial Platform
With the option of both 4x4 and 6x6 all-wheel drive models, the Arocs range is perfectly suited to take aerial platforms wherever they are needed while providing a solid, stable base for off the beaten track maintenance work.
Water Tanker
With a powerful transmission PTO output of up to 98kW, the Arocs makes for rapid loading and discharging of water, which means a fast turnaround, and the ability to deliver more loads per shift.
Emergency Services
Fire Engine
In the event of an emergency, reliability cannot be compromised on. The proven Euro III engines on the Arocs ranges offer powerful acceleration as well as the option of an NMV power take off on the 6x6 model, allowing genuine “pump and roll” capability at any speed.
